Gather & Grow Tour: Growing a School Garden

July 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
Free

Spend a summer evening touring a vibrant school garden! At the Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project, students tend a 1/3 acre garden and a year-round greenhouse — producing veggies, fruits, flowers, heirloom seed crops, and more. The garden provides both material sustenance and educational enrichment. Student-harvested produce — over 1,500 pounds yearly — goes to the cafeteria for school lunches; seedlings, greens, and garlic are sold to the community. Participants will walk through and learn how the garden operates. (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners)

About the Organic Farmers Association

In 2016 farmers from across the country came together to launch the Organic Farmers Association (OFA) to unite organic farmers for a better future together. In 2020, OFA gained its 501c5 nonprofit status.  Rodale Institute supports this initiative as fiscal sponsor and partner with OFA’s farmer leadership.
