Join today and support organic farmers!

Organic Farmers Association members support a strong voice for organic farmers in Washington, D.C.

The Organic Farmers Association is the ONLY national organization where solely independent certified organic farms determine its policies and work agenda. OFA was founded on the belief that the voice of farmers like you should carry the most weight in agricultural policy decisions.

In recent years, OFA has made a difference by putting significant pressure on the USDA to finalize the Origin of Livestock Rule to help organic dairies and finalize the Strengthening Organic Enforcement Rule to stop organic fraud and increase enforcement. We testified and advocated to allow paper pots for small-scale vegetable growers, introduced the ODAIRY Act of 2023, and advocated for stronger animal welfare standards for organic livestock and poultry production (OLPS Rule).

We have proved that farmer voices are stronger when we work together. Join us in this movement by becoming a member today!

How Does It Work?

OFA strives to build and support an organic farmer-led national movement and policy platform by:

  • developing and advocating for policies that benefit certified organic farmers
  • strengthening and supporting the capacity of organic farmers and farm organizations
  • supporting collaboration and leadership among state, regional, and national organic farm organizations

What Is OFA Working On?

Some priorities on our agenda for finding solutions to organic farmers’ problems are:

Improving Organic Integrity: We will require the USDA’s National Organic Program to continuously improve organic standards, keep pace with our growing industry, and address and prevent fraud.

Climate and Conservation: We want to make sure programs for climate-smart agriculture prioritize organic farmers and that USDA conservation programs work and prioritize organic practices

Making USDA Programs Work for Organic Farmers: We are working to expand the Organic Certification Cost Share Program to better serve small diversified producers; support the transition to organic with grants for technical assistance; streamline and improve crop insurance for organic farmers; and raise the loan limit to make USDA Micro Loans available to more farms.

If these issues and others matter to you and your farm, join as an OFA member now to strengthen the organic movement and secure your farm’s future success.

What Does It Cost?

We offer our annual membership on a sliding scale fee structure, so you can join at a rate that works for you. You can join with a one-time payment or select to have your membership renew automatically annually or monthly.
