Organic Cranberry Field Day at James Lake Farms

Join Marbleseed and the Organic Fruit Growers Association at James Lake Farms in Three Lakes, Wisconsin for the Organic Cranberry Field Day. This field day will include cranberry bed marsh construction and layout, water movement and usage, land management practices on a cranberry marsh, and organic fertility and pest management strategies.

Participants will visit two cranberry marshes operated by John Stauner of James Lake Farms and learn about transitioning cranberry production to organic management. Attendees will also tour pollinator habitat plantings designed to support organic cranberry production.

This is a free event and lunch will be provided.

Featured Presenters:

John Stauner – James Lake Farms is a certified organic cranberry operation in northern Wisconsin. Since purchasing the James Lake property in 2006 and converting the Thunder Lake marsh to organic production in 2016, John and Nora Stauner have expanded production to 189 acres of certified organic cranberries with twelve different varieties.

Allison Jonjak – Allison grew up on a family cranberry marsh and now serves as a Cranberry Outreach Specialist with the University of Wisconsin, helping connect cranberry growers with research and technical resources.
