This giving season, give your voice and become an OFA member

Stand with other organic farmers in this moment so we can take organic priorities to policymakers.

Farmer support ensures that real farmer voices—not corporate interests—shape the policies that impact our food, our land, and our future, and we’d like to invite you to join us to bring your farming perspective and passion for organic to Capitol Hill! Together, we can ensure that organic farmers are heard, respected, and empowered to shape the policies that matter to them the most.

What We’re Working On Now

OFA’s policy positions are set each year through a survey process (You can complete the survey here now!) where only certified organic farmers have the final vote on which policies OFA supports. And we need more farmer voices to fuel our new Farmer Workgroups as the heart of our policy development for the coming year. These workgroups unite organic farmers from across the country focused on tackling the most pressing challenges to the sector. This is where the real work happens, where farmers’ experiences become farmer power.

While the dynamics in D.C. are unpredictable, our farmer members haven’t stopped speaking up. They have:

  • Worked with Whole Foods to halt a mandatory and costly invoicing system that would have negatively impacted organic farmers’ bottom line
  • Made progress on the issue of protecting organic farmers from buyer bankruptcies, and new Iowa legislation extended the Iowa Grain Indemnity Fund this year to cover clawback claims
  • Acted quickly in February/March to gather stories and data from farmers impacted by the federal funding freeze to agriculture programs to measure impact and bring those stories to Congress

Membership isn’t just a donation. It’s about farmers coming together to have their voices heard and put their own farming experiences in a national context to work for change for all farmers.
